This house was built  on the site of several older houses in 1605 - 1608 by Hans Haas according to the plans by Dominic Cometta as the municipal brewery.

It is a typical Renaissance building concentrated around the inner courtyard, with picturesque dormer windows, tall decorative chimneys and sgraffito façades. It served its original purpose until the 20th century. The complex of buildings has been renovated  since 1992, and now it houses the international institution of the Egon Schiele Art Centrum.

The Viennese painter Egon Schiele paid visits to Český Krumlov, his mother’s native town, before World War I, and created a number of works there. The Český Krumlov Egon Schiele Art Centrum a permanent display of Egon Schiele’s aquarelles and drawings, as well as materials documenting his life and work. The Centre organises exhibitions of modern arts, provides studios to contemporary artists, and it runs a museum shop and a café.
